As of 16 June 2025, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a gold coin and a coppered tombac coin dedicated to the 745th anniversary of the first documentary attestation of the town of Sighișoara.

Reverse (common to the gold coin and the coppered tombac coin): a graphic rendition of Sighișoara stronghold, the town’s current coat of arms and the inscriptions “SIGHISOARA” and “1280” – the year of the town’s first documentary attestation.
The gold coins are housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by presentation leaflets and certificates of authenticity in Romanian, English and French, bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania. The coppered tombac coins are housed in transparent plastic capsules, being embedded in presentation leaflets and inserted in cardboard holders.
The maximum mintage is 1,000 for the gold coin and 5,000 for the coppered tombac coin.
The selling price for the gold coin, including the presentation leaflet and the certificate of authenticity, is lei 5,200.00, VAT excluded. The selling price for the coppered tombac coin, including the presentation leaflet and the cardboard holder, is lei 250.00, VAT excluded.
The gold and coppered tombac coins dedicated to the 745th anniversary of the first documentary attestation of the town of Sighișoara are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
The coins are put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, through the regional branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Craiova, Iași and Timișoara.
