Starting 1 September 2011, the National Bank of Romania's reference rate is the monetary policy rate set through a Board decision (pursuant to Article 3(1) of Ordinance No. 13 of 24 August 2011 on the penalty and remunerative legal interest for monetary obligations, as well as some financial and fiscal measures in the banking sector – Monitorul Oficial al României No. 607/29 August 2011).
